Ron Shevlin has pointed out to me that a firm called McKinsey may have been the originators of this branding model. I never knew where this model came from, and am certainly not claiming it to be mine. A branding colleague of mine sketched the graph out for me a few years ago while explaining it. I never knew where it came from or who came up with it.

So in fairness to McKinsey (if they are indeed the model's authors), here is a link to their PDF about drivers vs. antes:

Next Thursday, August 14, I'll be giving a webinar here through CUES on the "11 C's of Breakthrough Brands." Here’s what we’re going to cover:

* How to build a breakthrough brand by putting 11 distinct, power-proven principles to work for your organization.

* The steps that must be taken to create, execute and maintain a healthy, vibrant and growing brand.

* The five biggest—and most common—branding mistakes.

* How to align your entire organization around a clear, strong brand.

* How to engage constituencies on all sides of the conversation.

The deadline for online registration is next Monday, August 11, so hurry if you want to catch it.

Jeffry,

Great post with wonderful examples. I'm always looking for new tools for my strategic planning session facilitation.

Another consideration for a key driver is a credit union's DNA - not easily copied and can really make a difference. Great people helping great people.

Did I use the word "great" enough???

Great!

My credit union has made a practice of servicing its own mortgages. After a bad experience with an out-of-state servicer, this was a driver for me when I refinanced at the CU several years ago.
